Abstract:

In recent years, images have become an increasingly important supplement to theatrical performances, creating new forms through collision and integration with drama. While academic research has primarily focused on how images function as auxiliaries that transform performance relationships, spatio-temporal states, and narrative perspectives within theatrical spaces, the ontological significance of the images themselves remains underexplored. This article employs theories on intermediality and materiality to examine the material properties of images on the theatrical stage, tracing how their interaction with dramatic elements reconstructs both the boundaries and connotations of images.
