Abstract:

With the deep development of digital technology, short video platforms have become a new platform of online socialization and leisure entertainment for people in modern society. Among them, the short videos of the countryside with the theme of recording the productive life in the countryside have rapidly gained popularity in the fierce competition of all kinds of short videos, which has aroused people's longing and yearning for a better life in the countryside. Essentially, rural short videos represent visual culture in the form of images, which are the basic elements of people's daily life in the image era. The visual narrative of the rural short video “Poetic Dwelling” utilizes the unity of signifier and signified, and the combination of encoding and decoding to construct imagery in the symbolic interaction, and completes the presentation of imagery in the scene construction through the narrative mode of audio-visual synergy, the narrative style of situational blending, and the narrative feature of imagery metaphor, and with the visual turn of emotional expression, the image identity is realized in the emotional summoning of emotional inquiry and emotional mobilization. Thus, through symbolic interaction, scene construction, and emotional summoning, the visual narrative of rural short videos vividly demonstrates the aesthetics of the countryside in the form of visual images, depicting the life imagery of “poetic dwelling”.
