Abstract:

CAO XUEQIN and The Story of the Stone, a documentary on classical literature broadcast by China Media Group, is another current masterpiece of documentary on classical literature. One major feature of this documentary is polyphonic narrative. With the help of the polyphony of text time and historical time, the polyphony of multi-subject and multi-text, the documentary highlights not only the breadth and depth of the original novel The Story of the Stone, but also the charismatic personality of the author CAO Xueqin and the immense aesthetic value of the polyphonic feature of the documentary in particular. The broadcast of the documentary shows the episodic narrative style of Chinese traditional literature and the traditional Chinese aesthetic narrative style of interweaving the abstract and the concrete, which inspires the interactive vision that current documentary creations should have when going international.
