Abstract:

The writers of novels online created various new narrative techniques. "Two Story Worlds" is one of the innovative narrative techniques of online literature, which are often used in the sub-types of magic, fantasy, overhead, and crossovers of fantasy novels. Its characteristic is that the author designs "two story worlds" in creating novels. One is the "foreground story world" and the other is the "background story world". Through the "foregrounding" cross-border narrative techniques, the protagonist transcends the human life cycle and the human species boundary, and integrates the narrative elements in the "background story world" and pushes them forward to the "foreground story world", thus forming and exercising the narrative power that causes the changes and transitions of the main line of the novel's plot, and presenting a certain dramatic or visual narrative spectacle. The "foregrounding cross-border" of "two story worlds" is not only a typified narrative technique online novel authors employ to design story frames and configure the structural driving mechanism of the plot, but also brings epoch-making challenges and innovations to traditional narrative literature, which indicates the fictional imagination space and creative writing technology of literary narrative with the characteristics of the network era.
