A Multi-dimensional Measurement Study on the Attributes of New Media Image Art Based on Audience Perception

摘要:

为探究新媒体影像艺术的属性特征与受众感知的关系,研究通过选取具有代表性的国内外新媒体影像艺术作品,以多向度(MDS)分析测量影像艺术作品的视觉吸引力、整体创新性、思维深刻度、议题突出性及情感沉浸度五大核心属性特征的空间分布与感知强度,通过相关性与回归性,分析论证属性特征对作品综合评价的影响。根据多维测量的结果可得知,观众对新媒体影像艺术的属性特征强度的感知、对作品的综合评价并不完全一致,说明当下新媒体影像艺术创作中存在技术表现与内容表达失衡的现象,新媒体影像艺术作品的创作亟须平衡技术与思想内容的关系。研究以期为新媒体影像艺术的价值理解及未来创作提供参考,实现艺术创作本质的回归。

Abstract:

This study investigates the relationship between new media video art’s attribute characteristics and audience perception. Through analysis of representative domestic and international new media video artworks, multidimensional scaling (MDS) was employed to measure the spatial distribution and perceptual intensity of five core attributes: visual attractiveness, holistic innovation, conceptual depth, thematic salience, and emotional immersion. Correlation and regression analyses examined these attributes’ influence on comprehensive artwork evaluation. Results revealed a misalignment between perceived attribute intensity and overall artwork evaluation, indicating an imbalance between technical execution and content expression in contemporary new media video art creation. This finding underscores the urgent need to reconcile technological innovation with substantive conceptual depth in artistic practice. The research provides an empirical framework for understanding new media video art's value dynamics while offering actionable insights for future creative endeavors, aiming to realign artistic production with meaningful expression’s core principles.
