Abstract:

In the contemporary context where technology is reconfiguring human existential experience, the body has evolved into a complex field converging biological, social, and technological dimensions. Framed by Don Ihde’s threefold theory of the body, this article examines the body’s evolution from a material entity to a symbolic carrier and, ultimately, to a technological hybrid. It explores, for instance, how the biological body, as the foundation of perception, undergoes transformations in its modes of perception and ontological status following technological intervention; how the social body, within the interweaving of the virtual and the real, becomes a new interface for identity negotiation and power dynamics; and how the technological body, within the dialectical relationship between humans and technology, presents both possibilities for extension and risks of alienation. Through the unique sensitivity and critical spirit inherent in artistic practice, the article focuses on the process through which technological rationality shapes bodily experience, interrogating how to preserve the richness of the body and the integrity of humanity within technological fusion. This inquiry ultimately points towards a meditation on existence—the pursuit of poetic dwelling within technological environments.
