Abstract:

Media space constitutes one of the core arenas where digital audio-visual art articulates patterns of cultural communication. As digital audio-visual art evolves, the production of space has shifted from the physical realm to the virtual sphere of media culture. Structurally, morphological transformations in cultural representation and dissemination unfold across imagined geographies, mirrored locales, and the register of user perception. All deeply embedded within the broader tide of the spatial turn in media culture. Grounded in the theoretical genealogy and practical reorientation of spatial theory, the spatial production and its cultural representation in digital audio-visual art crystallize into a tripartite dialectical schema: "spatial practice, representations of space, and representational space." As a mode of virtual spatial practice, digital audio-visual works construct imagined geographies and generate mirrored locales at the intersection of media and physical space; ultimately, they intervene in meaning-making at the level of users’ heterotopic perceptual space, thereby shaping the pathways of cultural dissemination across digital audio-visual spaces. This tripartite, mutually constitutive dialectical relationship further mirrors the production formations of contemporary media culture.
