Abstract:

The new form of cinematic language in Chinese classical poetry have proliferated across contemporary cinema and television. Guided by a creative principle that moves from the abstract to the concrete, creators embed and reinterpret poetic works through dramatized representation, translating abstract linguistic signs into tangible visuals. As for aesthetic reception, the audience is expected to ground their experience in the reflective interaction between poetic implication and visual representation, achieving an integrated perception that unites "spiritual communion with the object" and "visual engagement with the object." Following the principle of "interpreting the ancient through the modern," creators interpret classical poetry through a modern lens, thereby expanding its semantic resonance, facilitating the transmission of its oral-aural dimension, and fulfilling the value of making the ancient serve the present. However, the unique characteristics of media dissemination modes and superficial interpretations in some cinematic adaptations have dissipated the "aura" inherent in classical Chinese poetry. Therefore, creators need to elevate their level of in-depth creative practice, create the possibility for the return of poetic "aura" in audiovisual form, and offer valuable experiential insights for the cross-media transmission of classical literary arts and their sustained relevance in modernity.
