Abstract:

Integration and symbiotic coexistence characterize China's evolving urban-rural relations. Rural films document this trajectory through dynamic imagery, creating a harmonious vision supporting China's urban-rural integration strategy. This study examines how new-century rural films portray this evolution through three phases: resistance, recognition, and symbiosis, analyzing their narrative strategies and sociological implications.The resistance phase manifests in conflicts between traditional customs and legal regulations. Recognition emerges through material urbanization trends and cultural transformations. The symbiosis phase reflects harmony between humans and nature under community aesthetics, alongside spiritual convergence between generations within the rural revitalization framework.Through systematic analysis of representative films from 2000-2023, this research reveals how cinematic portrayals reflect broader sociological shifts in urban-rural relations. Rural films document physical and cultural transformations and actively shape public understanding of integration policies. The findings demonstrate cinema's crucial role in building psychological and cultural foundations for high-quality urban-rural integration while offering insights for balanced development and cultural preservation.
