The Inspiration of Flow Theory for Improving the Learning Engagement of Students Majoring in Art

Abstract:

Flow theory is of great value in improving students' learning engagement. Compared with the students of other majors, the influence factors of art majors' learning involvement mainly include three aspects: not knowing the connection between theory and practice, the lack of enough opportunities to be paid attention to in class and the weak cultural foundation. Teachers can learn from flow theory, let students see the connection between theory and practice by transforming teaching goals into learning goals, give students a variety of immediate feedback to meet the emotional needs of students "being concerned" and create a "jump to reach" problem situation letting students feel the fun of classroom activities to improve art majors' learning engagement. At the same time, the teaching process should follow the three principles of giving full play to teachers' leadership, respecting students' subjectivity and valuing the interaction between teachers and students.
