Abstract:

The film Journey to the West employs scene composition, camera movement, and editing techniques to create multiple authentic scenes, constructing a multi-dimensional interpretive space through the visual mechanisms of parody TV interviews and mockumentaries. Through its use of parody, documentary realism as visual presentations, and narrative strategies rooted in romantic realism, the film encourages audience’s deep engagement and immersion in an interactive visual narrative structure. The tension between artistic authenticity and real-world realism inherent in both form and content of the film, enabling it to pursue a poetic and heartfelt exploration of life’s meaning and value.
