Research and Case Analysis of Public Welfare Appraisal of Calligraphy and Painting Artworks

Abstract:

This article, utilizing methods of field investigation and literature research, elucidates the status quo of calligraphy and painting appraisal activities within the " Public Welfare Appraisal and Consulting Service for Private Collections of Cultural Relics" in Shanghai in a rather comprehensive manner, based on a research that lasted over two years. It discusses aspects such as the current situation of collectors sending calligraphy and painting artworks for appraisal, the main sources of calligraphy and painting collections among collectors, and the characteristics of collectors who send artworks for appraisal. Moreover, it focuses on empirical research through the analysis of specific cases, exploring the practical application of methods such as documentary data and sample comparison in the authentication of ancient calligraphy and paintings. Additionally, the article offers suggestions for standardizing the socialized public welfare appraisal of calligraphy and painting artworks.
