Marc Leuthold’s Spirit: A Glimpse

Abstract:

This article presents art historian Walter Lokau’s assessment of the delicate, almost relic-like forms created by Professor and artist Marc Leuthold's artworks exhibited at Galerie Marianne Heller in Germany. It also describes and critiques two of Leuthold’s "Spirit" installations at locations in China. An excerpt of a previous interview with Leuthold then follows, with information about the artist’s philosophy on art-making and teaching, his personal history, aesthetics and assessment of the contemporary ceramic art and ceramic art market.
